My First Ambigram

I am so excited about this, I had to make a post!

I made my first ambigram!  What is an ambigram?

It's a word, art form, or other symbol whose elements retain meaning when viewed from a different direction; in my case, upside down.

I don't know how easy it actually is to read it since I've been staring at it.

It says, "Troop9211."

Nothing fancy, and the only reason why I wanted it done was to put on our craft box that keeps our troops patches.  The handle and the latch are the same color and width, so I often try to open the box by the handle, and even worse, try to carry the box but only end up opening it and having it all dump onto the ground.

It surprised me how quickly I was able to do it.

I challenge y'all to try this!  It was a lot of fun!

Remember, you can add silly frills to make the letters or numbers you need.

100th Post

These past couple weeks, I've been thinking about what I wanted my 100th post to be about.  I had a few drafts to think about, but I wasn't sure of any of them.

Then today, I started to print up Family Home Evening lessons, and I decided to make the girls General Conference booklets then realized that would be a perfect way to celebrate my 100th post!

I tried making something like this last year, but my printer wouldn't stop acting funny when you would ask for multiple prints.  I don't know how it fixed itself, but I'm glad it had.  This time around, I didn't make them myself, I just used pages from ones others have made.

I had been printing up FHE lessons from A Year of FHE, and decided to click through the different subjects off on the right.  I clicked on General Conf. and found a treasure trove.

There was one or two more, but I can't seem to find where they were.

I printed them with two to a page, made a cover page, and cut them all in half.  I used a three hole punch, using only the top two, to make the holes.  Using colored twine from the Dollar Tree, I looped around twice and used a square knot.

I tried to make them simple and pages that involve a lot of coloring since Raven is only 3.  For Evelyn, she had an additional page for writing since she's older.

I also found an article about Paper Clips.  I liked it.  A couple of weeks from General Conference, you need to prepare.  Think about your life right now, good things, bad things, things you want to happen.  Write these down, pray for you to find answers to them and watch General Conference.

It's amazing how the same talks help so many people in different ways.  And in years after, the revelation received is different still.

If you have a journal, get ready for another amazing General Conference!  If you don't have a journal, you still have some time to find a notebook to beautify for note taking at another amazing General Conference!

If you are not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I encourage you to watch General Conference.  You can watch it on lds.org, or the BYU channel.  It will encourage you to draw closer to Heavenly Father and to Jesus Christ.  In the very least, you can learn more about what Mormons believe in.

Eight Year Anniversary

Yesterday was our eight year anniversary, and I don't feel burned out.  Ever heard of that seven year itch?  That year ended with no need to scratch.  Didn't think we would either, though.  The necklace I'm wearing in this picture is the necklace I wore when we got married.  We bought it specially for that day from James Avery.  (It's no longer available.)

I have the "Heart with Garnet Twisted Wire" ring from James Avery on my left hand that I wear as a wedding ring, and on my right, I have my new "Tiny Hearts Band" that I got when we celebrated our anniversary last Saturday.  I've worn it on my index finger as well.  I want to get the thin stackable rings next.  I love James Avery jewelry!

To celebrate, we spent the day out together.  When we went to Texas Roadhouse to eat, Tom kept teasing me and told me he was setting the precedence for the next eight years.  Not so bad if you ask me.  I ordered the "Road Kill"; chop steak smothered in onions and mushrooms.  I got broccoli and a baked sweet potato topped with marshmallows and caramel on the side.  It was so good!  Tom got a juicy bacon burger.  Loaded potato wedged for an appetizer, too. After eating, we went to Half-Priced Books and bought a couple of vinyl records.  We went to Barnes and Noble, too.  Then we went to HEBPlus and bought two individual cheesecakes from the bakery; Tom got chocolate and I got cookies n' cream.  I tried Tom's and both were delicious!  We had a great time celebrating eight years of marriage!

I am very grateful for the blessings Heavenly Father has given me through my husband and our marriage.  An eternal marriage is a great and awesome blessing in itself and I am...over the moon that I have that.

Planning for #3, Part 3

So, plans have changed about when we will be trying for another child, but if you know me, you aren't surprised to learn that I still have been gathering some of the things on my list.

I haven't looked at my "Want/Need to Get" list for quite some time, yet something interesting has happened.

I found a stroller to fit a Chicco Keyfit 30 someone was getting rid of and forgot completely about this list when I had.

I got a Flower and Branch drying pieces on sale, forgetting they were on this list.

I just bought another swaddle because it was so cute and I didn't want to miss out before Walmart stops carrying them.

It's funny how things like this work; Heavenly Father inspires us in every aspect of our lives, even the parts we may think to be small.
